Prayer, Make it a Routine

From Our Lay Directors:

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

“Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord oh my soul!” Psalm 146; 1

I don’t know about all of you, but this summer is busy and flying by quickly! The Cursillo weekends in June, graduations and grad parties, weddings, baby showers and bridal showers, church festivals, family gatherings… and the list goes on. But during all this busyness don’t forget to pray and praise Him!

I don’t know about you, but I have found having a good prayer routine helps keep me in a prayerful mindset throughout my day. And this helps when things get thrown at me that I’m not anticipating or would normally throw me for a loop. It helps me remember or keep in mind God is always in control.

Earlier today I was reading the meditation for today’s readings in The Word Among Us, “From the beginning, God knew every situation we would face. He knew what our families would be like. He knew the struggles we would encounter growing up. Nothing in our life comes as a shock to him. No matter what our situation may be, his overflowing grace is always available to us.”

So, remember that no matter what gets thrown at you today, or tomorrow, or next week, God is always in control! Praise Him in all and through all for He is always with us, guiding us and giving us His strength and peace!

And if you don’t have a good routine and are busy, as most of us are, start today! It doesn’t have to be hours long or the same every day. Make it something you enjoy that will help you stick to it. If your day gets derailed and you must start at noon instead of at 9:00 am, don’t be surprised, just go with it. But the most important thing is taking and making that time for Jesus daily. And remember to praise Him in all things!

Blessings!
